In the speech "Ain't I a woman", Sojourner Truth uses paradox in paragraph 4 in order to strengthen her argument that women are as good as men. By the use of that literary device, what she does is make the readers think and reflect about this existing belief that, in that time, women were considered to be inferior and not capable of doing any activity that men generally do, just for the sake of being women.
