What character trait do Jem and Scout illustrate with their ambivalence (contradictory feelings) about taking the pennies?

    They both know it's wrong to do so, yet they really want to as they are still kids and have those mischievous thoughts. They know their right and wrong, and therefore show their hesitance in taking the pennies because of their moral.
