Reagan's premise was that the American space program needs to grow, and that to do this we need to bring awareness into our schools, starting with our school aged children. Reagan explains that we need to remember and honor the crew and their families. This fits into Reagan's claim that the space program should grow because he is discussing how to make it grow and why it should grow. Reagan wanted the nation to show loyalty to those who lost their lives and to provide comfort and care to their families.
