Why would the author, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, choose to leave the main character without a name?

Problly to keep the story exciting

To keep the reader engaged because the reader may be hoping that a name gets introduced, whether or not it eventually does. also this allows the reader to be imaginative so they feel like they are one with the book which creates a stronger connection
