When the deal come closer to the end, Faustus desperately sought for an excuse that would nullify the terms of his contract.

    Answer: Option C

    Explanation:

The Deal between Dr Faustus and the Devil

Being dissatisfied with the limitations of knowledge, logic and religion of the world, Dr Faustus decided to learn the black magic and summoned the Devil named Mephastophilis.

Faustus told him to go to his master Lucifer and offer a deal of 24 years of life in terms of the serving of Mephastophilis for the span. Lucifer agreed on his terms and Faustus lived a luxurious life.

When the deal came closer to the end, Faustus realized his mistake and started looking for a solution to nullify the deal with the devil but this time, Lucifer didn't agree to his terms and Faustus had to lose his soul to Lucifer.
