What does Prose mean when she writes, "[B]y concentrating on the student's own history they [teachers] narrow the world of experience down to the personal and deny students other sorts of experience - the experience of what's in the book, for starters" (para. 40) ? Do you agree with Prose's statement? Why or why not?

In her book ""I Know Why the Caged Bird Cannot Read", literature scholar Francine Prose stated her reservations regarding the current state of Literature education to students. I agree to Prose statement that students are assigned text according to their proficiency level and teachers do not try to expand their realm in introducing students with high quality literature.

    Explanation:

She is referring to high school students is these lines and states that they are assigned low quality text for reading. This literature damages their quality to grow their literary foundation and they did not become appreciators of good literature as adults.
