The teacher became emotional for a few reasons. Audrey was expressing the fact that she wanted to fight for her own independence instead of just talking about it while others were out protesting. This was a meaningful form of expression to the teacher. Audrey was figuring out how she fit into this whole situation, and was wondering how she could make the situation better.
