The character of Esteban is not real.

    Explanation:

'Lynette at 3 A. M.' is a one-act play written by Jane Anderson. The play is about Lynette who wokes up at 3 AM, unable to sleep because of the gun shot that she heard from her apartment. After hearing the gun shot, she tries to wake up her boyfriend, who ignores her.

Eventually unable to sleep, she turns on the TV where she meets Esteban. In the play, Esteban is characterized as the one who is shot dead in her apartment. Estaban is a young Puerto Rican, who lived on the floor just below the floor of Lynette. Estaban is not a real character because he is dead and dead people can not talk. He must be Lynette's imagination, who is unable to sleep because of the gun shot.
