The answer is Hester.

Explanation:

She is the greatest sinner, she had to use scarlet letter, which was an A, for adultery and then she went to jail, and had a little girl named Pearl.

She was ashamed by the community and banished from society.

She tried to convince Dimmesdale to run away with her and the baby, however he refused. He never acknowledge that Pearl was his daughter. She grew up moved to Europe and married a noble and wealthy man.

Hester, her mom, died at her old cottage and was buried next to Dimmesdale.

In my opinion, the real sinners are the society and Dimmesdale, because he commited the crime too. However, the laws of that time were harder on women than men. They were allowed to do everything including having affairs, and women were not.
