In the novel "The Bean Trees" written by Barbara Kingsolver, Lou Ann represents an Archetypal character. Her character reflects the most typical of a kind of person or quality. Lou Ann’s character is of a traditional woman who places her motherly instinct before anything else. Later she undergoes a transformation from a traditional housewife to that of an independent mother. Though she had some feminist instincts in herself, she didn’t display it until she meets Taylor. She possesses that character which any traditional or a woman would have. Her love for her child and household and the set of being independent all set an example to it.
