In chapter 15, the little doors in the room scared Bud. What did he think was behind the doors?

Calloway was or seemed to be a hard man, who disliked Bud for some reason. He even whispered to him that very night they arrived "You've got the rest of them fooled, but not me. There's something about you that I don't like. I'm going to find out what your game is and you, believe me, scamp, you're going back where you belong". The room where he was to sleep has two little doors which scared him. He thinks that the doors housed monsters, "a young Frankenstein or wolfman" that will hurt him while he's sleeping.
