Why should writers take a break between writing the first draft and revising?

to separate the processes of writing and revising

to avoid becoming tired of the subject matter

to have a fresh perspective on what they have written

to get some much-needed rest

    The answer is C, to gain a fresh perspective. Sometimes when writing it makes sense because you know what you're trying to convey, but once returning to it it doesn't make sense after you've forgotten your meaning.
