The correct answer is A. Mice and animals

In the Wrath of the Grapes written by John Steibeck in 1939, the mice moved in in the back of drawers in the kitchens, and the cats and weasels came to hunt them. First the cats moved and mewed through the empty rooms, they went back to the fields becoming wild cats from then on, and when the mice moved the cats came back to hunt them. And when the night came the bats came in flying through the empty rooms and stayed in dark room corners during the day hung head-down.
