Discrimination is a grave matter most especially during LaNier’s time. The dress may be appropriate for her first day of school but segregation in schools dominated. She was judged based on the color of her skin. A s a result, she was put into a hostile situation. She clarified that the dress was bought from the store and not made by her mother.
