Why were travel narratives popular in 18th-century Europe?

Most people were tired of reading poetry.

People were excited to learn about other cultures.

Common people could not afford to buy TVs.

Most Europeans wanted all other cultures to become Christian.

    Travel narratives were popular in 18th-century Europe because people were excited to learn about other cultures.

    People were never tired of reading poetry, so that is incorrect. TV didn't exist until the 20th century. And nobody cared anymore what religion was the most powerful one.
