    I think that the author chose this title because lots of hopes were given up by Chris when the car accident happened. Then he only had a few dreams left, they were to play in the wheelchair basketball season that Mr. Evans had spoke about. For one of Chris' only remaining wishes to be fulfilled, his dad had to pitch in and take responsibility, because it was his fault that the car hit the lamppost. So that is why Jim Blair (Chris' dad) took a responsibility of training Chris and his team.
