Why does tom refer to the liaison between daisy and gatsby in terms of inter marriage?

Liaison means binding or in this statement, it is actually referring to a marriage. Tom to the liaison between Daisy and Great Gatsby because Daisy wants to get married again even if she is already married to Tom. Getting married while she is currently married.
