Refer to Explorations in Literature for a complete version of this speech. Reread Paragraph 9 from Jefferson Davis's speech before the Mississippi Legislature. Which statement most accurately states a claim Davis develops in Paragraph 9 about leaving the Union? Though he loves Mississippi, he thinks keeping the Union together is more important.
