All characters are seen in Shakespeare's Hamlet. The only characters that are not of royalty is Ophelia and Laertes, both brother and sister who are of nobility but not royalty. Queen Gertrude is the queen of Denmark and Hamlet's mother. Hamlet sees her as lust driven and makes pleas for her to follow a life of chastity and abstinence from sexual activity. Fortinabras is a prince of Norway whose father was killed by Hamlet's father. This gives Fortinabras a strong desire to attack Denmark.
