Dr. Fletcher took a deep breath before she opened the

envelope. The letter was from Enrique, whom she had not

heard from in two years. "My dearest doctor," the letter

began. "Where do I begin? As you know, we met under the

palms of the Nile on a steamboat called the Emerald

Messenger, at a card table to be exact. I believe the game

was bridge. Do you remember? That night, I gave you a

package, which I hope you haven't opened. You kept asking

me what was in the package, and I kept avoiding the

question. Well, it is time you knew."
