"He would have been behaved. His fate is up to the queen" His punishment is to really care about women, they forced him to do it, also he had to find out what they really desire.

    Play: The wife of bath

Brief explanation: The knight's crime was raping a girl. At the beginning, he was sentenced to death, but then the Queen gave him a second sentence that forced him to find out what a women desires most in life, he had to go back in a year with an answer.

There is irony of the knight's quest to find out what women want since all women have different answers to that question so his quest make no sense.

In "The Wife of Bath" from the Canterbury Tales, the knight's original sentence was to be beheaded. However, this punishment was revised and the queen was the one who decided his fate. The revised punishment was to answer the questions of the queen. She asked him to figure out what it is that the women most desire.
