Since the a few of the chapters are written to discuss Voltaire’s anti-war satire, he used exaggeration to satirize inhumane disciplinary practices of the Prussian Army by describing them as ‘heroes’ - which are soldiers basically, who were turned into mere machines that can move by itself. In addition to that, Voltaire described war itself as ‘glorifying’ and the killings and murders as ‘heroic’ butchery; as he is clearly disgusted by the slaughter and wastes brought by war.
