    The setting of the story "The Chrysanthemums" by John Steinbeck focused on the character of Elisa Allen. Much like the Salinas Valley of California where she experience that is contrasted with "a closed pot," Elisa is encased in the farm where she lives and a disconnected life. Her working in the bloom cultivate recommends her fruitfulness that lone finds an outlet in constrained nature, for she doesn't frequently leave the farm.
