In James Joyce's story "Araby," what does the archetypal hero's quest consist of? He must battle against archetypal opponents in the Garden of Eden.

He seeks to escape from a prison-like home that is guarded by hostile, archetypal adults.

He tries to lose his innocence in order to grow up, and he succeeds in doing that.

He must overcome obstacles and difficulties to win the pure maiden's love.

    The correct answer is D. A. is off-topic as there is no mentioning of the garden of Eden in this story, B., although half true, it isn't the main quest of the young boy; C. is actually a result the young boy achieves unawarily, in the so-called "epiphany", but it isn't his main goal from the start.
