This poem shows a raven who comes to torment a man saying "Nevermore", but in reality the message behind that is that the protagonist does not want to face his own thoughts in which he has to accept that his beloved has died and will never see her again.

    That is the "hidden" idea, the author does not expect us to think that a raven speaks, but to think beyond what is written.
