Yes, this equation is a linear function. Here are a couple of reasons:
1. The two variables have a degree of 1. Simply put, their exponents are 1's. An exponent greater than one on either or both variables (like x², y³, etc.) will be nonlinear.
2. This equation can be solved for y and be written in the linear form y=mx+b:
2x+3y=5
3y = - 2x + 5
y = - 2/3x + 5/3
