The pink ribbons in the story is associated to Goodman Brown's young wife, Faith. Faith, whose innocence and serious character are probably to be represented in part of her ribbons’ color. The falling of ribbons to the ground would likely to symbolize one of the many themes of the story. True to the fact that we are tainted with sins, none of us would be able to avoid the taint of sin on our entire lives. It is very clear that at the start, Goodman Brown adored his wife, and yet the 'dream' he has in the forest put him to doubt his impressions his wife. It is Brown’s 'fall' from the peak that he has put her on that is illustrate d by the fall of the ribbons.
