Explain how M. A. D. related to the development of nuclear weapons during the Cold War. What would have been the consequences of a nuclear conflict between the two superpowers?

    M. A. D stood for mutually assured destruction is meant that both countries had missiles in range of each other if one fired their missiles the other would retaliate and fire theirs destroying both superpowers and starting nuclear war.
