    The Great Gatsby is a Novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and was published in 1925. The plot of the first chapter is as follow:

    The novel begins with a narrator named as Nick Carrway who has fought World War I. He describes his situation by telling that he has moved from Midwest to West Egg (a town in New York) so that he can become a bond trader on the Wall Street. Nick is rich person and graduate of Yale. His rent house is between the mansions of wealthy people and the person living next door is Jay Gatsby. Across his house, there lives his cousin, Daisy and her husband Tom Buchanan. Daisy invites Nick to dinner and he finds that her husband has not changed as he is still aggressive and assertive. He also finds that her husband was a racist as he tell Nick that he has read a book on white supremacy. Another character named Jordan Baker also introduced here. During the dinner, Tom's mistress calls him to speak and he leaves the table several times for this reason. One time, Daisy follows him and they both quarrel. After the dinner, Nick went back to his home and spies his neighbor Gatsby. He sees that Mr. Gatsby is standing in his lawn and looking at a green light at the end of the dock at Daisy and Tom's house. He has stretched his arms and it appears as he is trying to the get the light.
