    The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers are so important to the people of the Middle East, because this is their main source of water. The water levels would often rise uncontrollably and wipe out the people's crops. Therefore, villagers worked together to build rails and canals, that prevented floods and pushed water in the right directions; pools and dams, to store and consume water responsibly; and irrigation systems.

    Small cities and villages have been established all along these waters.
