Did Buddhism decline in Japan during the feudal age?

Im mosly positive that it did decline

Buddhism’s migration to Japan from the Asian mainland and establishment as a religion began at the political level. The synthesis of Buddhism and Shinto was an evolution unto itself, but the initial impact of Buddhism as a religion was rooted in the politics of the time.
