    in intensive subsistence farming, the crops which are usually grown are kharif crops, since kharif crops need lots of water, so crops like paddy, maizes, pulses and oil seeds need adequate water resources, and monsoon rains are the best raises of water. also, this type of farming needs a lot of hands working, so it is grown in thickly populated, monsoon plains
