The most characteristic feature of Russian architecture are it's churches. Religious objects have always been a signature mark of the Russian society, they were the only stone buildings that were built, and also, the only buildings that are left from the past. The famous Onion Dome was seen as a roof of every single church in Russia, making Russian Churches very recognizable and outstanding. On the inside, a famous feature is the iconostasis mounted on the wall with hierarchically aligned icons.
