Precipitation is any kind of water that falls from the clouds in the sky. In clouds, water drops and ice crystals join together and get heavier. When the drops get to heavy for the air, rain or snow falls from the clouds.
Some people think that precipitation only includes rain, but it's any kind of water that falls from the clouds like rain, snow, hail, and sleet.
