    It would be letters B and C. It was American Navy Commodore Matthew Perry that forced Japan to open trade with foreign powers because of the show of power of the US Navy at the port of Tokyo. After Japan traded with the foreign power and the fall of the shogun, Japan immediately started to rebuild its country to modernization becoming a powerful country in Asia.
