Following are the four major types of weather fronts and their information:

    Cold front:

The weather front that is formed due to the replacement of warm air by cool air close to the ground is known as 'cold front'. This front is characterized by the presence of a low-pressure zone as the warm air here rises up and gets replaced by cold air gradually.

    Warm front

The weather front that is formed due to the replacement of cool air by warm air away from the ground is known as 'warm front' This transition zone is characterized by the presence of a high-pressure zone.

    Stationary front:

The front that is formed when the cold and warm fronts cease to move is called a 'stationary front'. Depending upon the temperature of the air mass at this transition zone, the pressure variates.

    Occluded front:

When the cold air mass from a cold front moves past the warm front in order to meet the cold air on the other side of the warm front, an occluded front is formed. This front is characterized by low-pressure transition zones.
