    The correct sorting of the terms and the life cycles they represent is:

    1. Egg, larva, cone, pupa - Insect life cycle;

    2. Spore, seed, fruit - Plant life cycle;

    The life cycle of the insects has multiple phases, even though the insects have very short lifespans. The insect lays an egg in suitable environment. From egg comes out a larva which feeds where the egg has been placed. The larva makes a cone and gets into a pupa where it is in an inactive stage, and after it matures it becomes an insect.

    The plants have a different life cycle. They can reproduce either by spores, which do not require any assistance, and by seeds. The spores develop on their own. They are one celled and are able to produce new plant out of them. The seeds need to be in the ground. Once they start growing, a steam is formed. The plant than matures and creates flowers. The flowers are fertilized by the bees, or other small animals. Once fertilized they develop a fruit. The fruit falls on the ground or is eaten by some animal. The seeds in the fruit than end up on the ground, and the plant cycle continues.
