What forms an abyssal hill?

    Abyssal Plains

    They are commonly underlain by oceanic crust or, less commonly, by highly extended continental crust. Within oceanic crust lie abyssal hills, which were formed from the development of normal faults and volcanism at the original ridge crest where the crust was created.
