Water sustainability practices in MEDCs and LEDCs

    Explanation:

The MEDCs consume more water for domestic household purposes and industrial use; whereas, the LEDCs mostly spend domestic and farming or agricultural purposes.

Water consumption for domestic purposes is more in MEDCs with piped connections, modernized showers, washing machines, pools, fountains etc. MEDCs can adopt sustainable water usage through water recycling processes, rainwater harvesting system, water-efficient equipment; better maintenance of reservoirs and pipelines.

LEDCs, in turn, may not be completely equipped with piped connections and may depend on potable water which may limit their usage. Moreover, water loss during transit and supply is a huge problem which needs to be tackled.

Sustainable water usage for industrial purposes in MEDCs is done through efficient effluent water recycling, mechanized water equipment etc; which is not common in LEDCs.

Application of modernized and mechanized farming and irrigation methods in MEDCs allows for sustainable water consumption for farming than in LEDCs which still depend on traditional farming methods which may consume more water.
