Mexico, a country found in the southern part of North America, was populated more than 13,000 years ago. It became the territory of Native Americans before being conquered by the Spain in 16th century.

Mexico was home to many indigenous civilization during the prehispanic era or precolumbian era. That time was known as the Aztec empire. The Spaniards conquered Mexico in 1519 and brought about numerous influences which are still evident up to this day.

Because of this cultural blending, Mexico is the country where majority of people speak Spanish and is home to the largest number of Native American speakers.
