The increase of the Earth's mean temperature will cause the polar caps to begin to melt as the Earth is getting hotter. The melting of the polar ice caps could then affect the salinity of ocean as the ice caps are not saline: therefore, as they melt and fall into the ocean, they decrease the ocean's salinity.
