When the Earth was forming, it was the right distance from the sun and due to this water and oxygen formed in substantial quantities. Oxygen was the main gas for creation of plants other than carbon Dioxide. The earth was called blue planet due to some much water. But it is also called green planet because of its environmental view. Plants and trees thrive in the earth.

Uranus is a green - blue color. Earth looks blue from space, although a lower altitudes some of the planet appears green.
