All cells contain ion pumps that use the energy of ATP hydrolysis to pump ions across the plasma membrane. These pumps create an electrochemical gradient across the plasma membrane that is used to power other processes at the plasma membrane, including some transport processes. In animal cells, the main ion pump is the sodium-potassium pump. True or false?

    True

    Explanation:

The process whereby ions such as sodium and potassium are passed across cell membrane in human cells is known as membrane transport system. This process is regulated by a series of mechanism which involves the creation of electrochemical gradients across the plasma membrane of the cells. The membrane transport system is powered by energy in form of ATP. The three major electron transport system in humans are passive transport (diffusion), osmosis and facilitated diffusion.
