    Increasing

    Explanation:

When the shrubs are removed from desert environments the process of deflation is increasing. The reason for this is that the shrubs with their large root systems are able to hold tight the soil, but once they are removed that natural protection is gone. As the shrubs and their roots are gone, the soil becomes much more exposed to the erosion as it has no protection, so the erosion is much more intense, so the terrain is becoming much flatter in much less time.
