I am in 5th grade and I learned this 1 week ago: There are 4 types of air masses : Maritime polar, Maritime tropical, Continental polar, and Continental tropical
The Continental polar is an air mass that brings cold, dry air and they are somewhere in the Artic.

It means (in scientific terms) that weather is coming from the continent (south or north pole and it's cold. (polar)
