Suppose that Earth's interior contains a large amount of lead. Based on your prior knowledge, how dense is lead? Would the lead be more likely to be found in the crust, mantle, or core?

    Lead is one of the important elements found on earth. They are metallic gray in color and one of the heavy metal. It has a density of about 11.34 g/cm³. It has a high density because of its closed type of packing and face-centered cubic structure. Lead rarely occurs in its pure form on earth. It is mostly found to be present in association with its principle ore known as galena.

    Thus, lead is a very denser element as it has a very high density.

    In a situation where there is a huge amount of lead in the earth's interior, the lead will be most likely to be found in the core of the earth. It is because, in the present scenario, the core of the earth is comprised of denser elements namely iron (Fe) and nickel (Ni) that have an extremely high density.
