Being a shield volcano is characterized by Bowl shape. Having a similar process of formation like the Hawaiian islands. Galapagos is associated with hotspots and the latest eruption took place in 2015. Being Shield in nature they generally don't erupt suddenly unless covered from above thus have effusive nature of eruption and main components of eruption is lava or magma. These volcanoes have been formed due to the lava coming from the mid-oceanic ridges some 200 kilometers away.
