A patient who has tertiary insurance would have three types of coverage.

    Explanation:

When a patients has two insurance policies for claiming the first one will be considered as primary and the second on will be secondary. When there is an additional policy that is to be covered then it is called as tertiary insurance policy. In this type of policy there will be three types of coverage.

The primary insurance policy is used for covering the costs that are mentioned in the policy limits. The costs that are not covered by primary policy is covered by the secondary policy. The tertiary insurance is the one that covers all additional costs and hence it is considered as the third level insurance.
