It does not in itself imply that faster urbanization will lead to accelerated economic growth ... Finally, urbanization implies a decline in the share of rural dwellers, and not just more urban dwellers. This may be caused by a rise in rural productivity, or it may require such a rise. The results show that at least a causal relationship exists between urbanization and economic growth and urbanization positively impacts economic growth. However, the relationship between urbanization and economic growth is non-linear. The urbanization reaches a threshold after which it may impede the economic growth.
