What is shifting cultivation and what is the rationale behind it?

    Well the idea is to not use the soil up to much because after extended use soil become less and less nutrient bearing when you cultivate crops on it. Therefore by moving the crops to different places it allows the soil to renew the nutrients that it had lost over time.
